This course provides an introduction to the concepts of business intelligence (BI) and its applications. 
It explores how business problems can be solved effectively by using operational data to create valuable information, and then applying tools and analytics to gain new insights into business decisions. 
Detailed discussion of the design, analysis, implementation, and trend of models and systems for BI, including: 
the differences between data and information, 
information management systems, expert systems, decision support systems, 
data mining methods, and the intelligent service systems.
Case studies are used to explore the use of application software, and the conceptual framework for business intelligence critical success factors.
After successful completion of the course students should be able to:
Articulate the concepts, theories, and research in the field of business intelligence.
Articulate the role of business intelligence in organizations, and modern BI practices.
Apply decision theory and business intelligence techniques to analyze problems.
Apply BI enabling technologies in organizational settings.
