Modern manufacturing systems involve many processes and operations that can be monitored and controlled at several levels of intelligence. At highest level there is a computer that supervises various manufacturing functions, whereas at lowest level there are stand along computer controlled systems of manufacturing processes and robotic cells. This course focuses on the information technology, and management and control issues of manufacturing systems in the shop flow level. The analysis, design and control for the manufacturing information systems as well as discrete event manufacturing systems are illustrated in this course。
